The Northeast Fiddlers Association is a nonprofit. Donations are appreciated and are tax deductible.
We have had two meets since our last newsletter. Attendance was low… only 7 fiddlers played up on the stage at the Sept. meet in Waterbury, and just 9 at our Oct. meet at Hyde Park. The circle lasted a little longer than usual, the fiddlers each played an extra tune, and everyone had a very good time.
The craft table did very well, and there were lots of generous donations for the food shelf. The Waterbury Farmers Market was delighted by the toe-tapping music provided by Roger Perrault and Joe Gagnon on Sept. 7, and they gave NEFA a generous donation.
Len Dessormeau played a nice tune for us in Hyde Park called Whalen’s Breakdown. I’ve written it out for you, but, even better, Laurie was able to find a video of it being played by Patti Kusturok.
Fiddlers on the Green
The Festival of Fiddlers on the Green is making good progress. As of October 11, only 94 towns out of 251 have not had a fiddler documented in 2019.
A list of Towns Needing Fiddlers can be seen here. This is a moving target, and even if there’s already a photo in a certain town, more entries are most welcome. If you get the chance to take a picture of a fiddler playing anywhere in Vermont during 2019, please send it to Fiddler, PO Box 644, Townshend, Vermont 05353 or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our remaining 2019 meets are as follows:
October 20 at the Moose Club in Bellows Falls
November 3 at the VFW in Morrisville
December 8 at the Canadian Club in Barre
It’s also not too early to be making reservations for our Holiday Party Dinner which will be at the Canadian Club in Barre on Sunday, Dec. 8. The dinner is free for 2019 NEFA members and * $15 or $16 for anyone who has not paid for a 2019 membership. Reservations must be made by Dec. 1, and can be made at either of our upcoming meets, (Bellows Falls or Morrisville), or by contacting Val.
*When making your dinner reservation you must specify if you want a Ham dinner or a Turkey dinner. For Non-members the Ham Dinner will cost $15, and the Turkey Dinner will cost $16.
I hope to see you all in Bellows Falls on October 20. Happy Fiddling!
It’s not too early to be thinking of sending in NEFA dues for 2020! The form is available here. Print, fill out and mail it with your check, or bring it to the next meet.
